GIICHIRO KATSUTA
Gardener

Born in Tokyo, Japan.

After leaving Kuwasawa Design School, Giichiro chose the path of a gardener and began his apprenticeship under Kiyoshi Imaizumi.

He studied Japanese garden design and traditional Edo-period pruning techniques while traveling throughout Japan from north to south. Living close to nature and learning from regional landscapes, he developed an approach to garden making rooted in the character of each place.

In 2010, he founded Niwatune in Izu.

Since 2019, he has been based in Okinawa, creating landscapes that respond to climate, architecture, and the spirit of the land.

Creating a garden is the beginning of life.
